I Finally Found the Perfect Linen Blackout Curtains for Under $200

Let’s be real for a second: finding good window treatments in Canada is a struggle.

I feel like I had two options for my daughter’s room:

  1. Spend a small fortune on custom drapes or Pottery Barn Kids (beautiful, but ouch).

  2. Buy cheap polyester curtains that look shiny and let in way too much light.

I had a very specific vision for her room. I wanted that soft, high-end linen look to add some texture, but I also needed them to be fun. We aren't doing the "sad beige" thing over here! I wanted a beautiful light pink that felt sweet but not tacky.

And most importantly? They needed to be blackout. Like, actually blackout. Because we all know that if the sun is up, the baby is up.

After scrolling for hours, I took a chance on a set from Amazon, and honestly? I am completely obsessed.

The Details: Why I Love These Curtains

They are a gorgeous linen blend that gives the room such a cozy, organic feel. But unlike regular linen (which is usually sheer), these are lined with a heavy-duty backing that blocks out light perfectly.

But here is the detail that actually sold me: The hardware.

Usually, when you buy curtains, you have to buy the rings and clips separately to get that expensive "pleated" slide. These curtains came with the clips and rings included.

This makes such a difference in how they hang. They slide open and closed so smoothly (no tugging required!), and the clips give them that tailored, custom-drapery look without the custom price tag.

The Math (Because We Love a Deal)

If I had bought similar linen blackout curtains from a high-end retailer, I was looking at easily $300+ for the one window.

These Amazon ones came in around $175 total for the pair.

  • The Look: High-end linen texture.

  • The Function: 100% Blackout.

  • The Savings: Half the price.

The Contrast: Why I Chose a Black Rod

I paired the soft pink with a simple matte black curtain rod. I love how the black hardware grounds the space and adds a little modern edge so it doesn't feel too precious.

My Tip: Always hang your curtains "high and wide." I mounted the black rod a few inches below the ceiling and wider than the window frame. It makes the window look huge and the ceilings look taller!

The Verdict

If you are looking to refresh a nursery, kid's room, or even your own bedroom, I cannot recommend these enough. They’re from Amazon, so if the colour isn't quite right in your lighting, returns are easy. But if they are anything like mine, you're going to want to keep them!
